How to tie two chords

• Feb 26, 2011 - 11:45

Hi everyone,
I'm writing some piano music and every now and then I need to tie every single note of a chord into a new one (in the same layer) but I can't do it properly. An exemple: let's say we put a chord (C, E and G, for instance) in the last beat of a bar and want it to continue into the first beat of the next bar, with the same sounds (C, E and G). When I try to tie every note some of them dissapear. Has anyone figured out how to do that? Thanks

Pedro

You mean the fact that the notes in two different voices are overlapping? While I'd call it a bug that MuseScore didn't sort that out for you (it seems to me it normally does), it's easy enough to workaround by double clicking the note you wish to move then hit an arrow key to nudge it. In bar 4, I'd nudge the F three clicks to the right - the rule is, stems should line up.
