  1. Enter some staff text on a note.
  2. Press Alt + R arrow to move to the next entry position, then Alt + L arrow.
Expected result: Cursor returns to former position.
    Actual result: Nothing happens.

Note: This works OK for fingering.

Try this:

  1. Open the attached score, select the first note in V1 and add staff text (Ctrl + T). Add a "p" for example.
  2. Alt + R arrow, then Alt + L arrow.

Result: Alt + L arrow doesn't work.

  1. Create a new score with one measure of 1/8th notes in voice 1 and 2.
  2. Select the first note in V1 and add staff text (Ctrl + T). Add a "p" for example.
  3. Alt + R arrow, then Alt + L arrow.

Result: Alt + L arrow doesn't work. Issue seems to occur with certain combinations of V1 and V2 durations.

I tried putting 8th notes in voice 1 and 1/4 notes in voice 2, then the other way around, then 8th notes in both voices starting fresh each time and it works as expected.

The order of arrow movements in m1 for alt+right arrow is
time signature
voice 1 beat 1
voice 2 beat 2
staff text
voice 1 beat 1.5

When I start on any point in m1 using alt+left arrow exactly reverses this order. I do work with a blind musician who uses this all of the time, let me see what happens for him. I'll need some time but I'll get back with his answer or have him answer here directly.

No issue for me either using the Linux AppImage. Did you perhaps redefine Alt+L to do something else? Or perhaps your OS or some other utility has reserved it?

I confirm docteurv's findings. To summarise: (1) Alt + L works in fingering entry/edit mode; (2) Alt + L works in Normal mode; BUT (3) it fails in (non-fingering) text entry/edit mode under certain combinations of voice 1 and voice 2 notes.

There is a common factor. Where Alt + L fails, the navigation is also irregular: in these cases, Alt + R moves from note to note in the same voice regardless of note order.

I suggest doing any arrow movements in normal mode, although it's a bit annoying, since in Sibelius I just press arrow keys to jump after note entry. The most frustrating thing is, if we want to shift+arrow to select notes, we must in normal mode, otherwise the order of notes will be quite messy. This is the only drawback of Musescore I think. When we'll write a guide for blind musicians to use Musescore during our DAISY Music Braille Project, I'll certainly include this point.

So, you specifically mean, Alt+Left while editing the text? This was not clear. Now I can see, in that specific case, multiple voices does throw this off.
