musicxml from new version of Finale
I am trying to open a musicxml saved from Finale (either mxl, or musicxml) and the oppened score looks like an empty sheet. Is that a bug?
File is attached.

MuseScore 3.4.2
In reply to MuseScore 3.4.2 by Shoichi
From 3.4.2 to 3.5.2
That xml Indeed doesn't work in 3.5.2 (and not in the lates 3.6 development vsrion either), but does in 2.3.2
And, as per Shoichi also in 3.4.2.
Please file this in the issue tracker as a regression

#312854: [MusicXML] musicxml from new version of Finale imports as blank sheet
:(
I can confirm, although I see a small © (copyright symbol) at the bottom of the blank page.
MuseScore 3.5.2 ... Windows 10
It does, however, open in my copy of MuseScore 2.3.2
thank you!! would you recommend to download the older version for now? I constantly need the ability to open XML files from Finale, or do you have a command-line converter as a temporary solution?

On Linux Mint I have Appimage 3.4.2 and 3.5.2;
2X and 3X versions can coexist.

Most XML files - whether from Finale or elsewhere - open fine in 3.5.2, probably some very specific error in this one. Overall, 3.5.2 will import XML better and with fewer bugs than any previous version. So, best to keep using 3.5.2 for most files, but if you encounter another file that gives a similar problem, maybe keep an older version around just for those.

Marc, this is the credit node interpretation error. Please see my post below. I can reproduce it with 100% reliability. I wasn't debugging to see what exactly errors out, as I just deleted the credit node altogether, but it is clearly Musescore.

The problem is being worked on. Shoichi created the issue #312854: [MusicXML] musicxml from new version of Finale imports as blank sheet and our musicxml guru is on it so it should be fixed in 3.6.

Understood, this info wasn't known when I responded :-). But for the record, it seems the problem is a double credit element - the title is for some reason duplicated on page two and combined with the page number. Not sure how that happened, ordinary credit elements seem to work fine. I guess Finale generated that as a result of you putting the title into a header? I assume it's valid MusicXML, and anyhow it sounds like Leon is into a fix.
This is indeed a bug. Cause is a double credit-type element that was not handled correctly by the MusicXML parser. It is not a structural issue with opening Finale MusicXML files. Solution is known and I expect it should make it into 3.6.

Thank you! You've saved me from installing an old version. :) See my comments below.
For info, I opened your XML file with Finale 25.5, then exported to musicxml and opened it with MuseScore 3.5.2. without any problem.

I also found that your XML opens correctly with Sibelius and Harmony Assistant.

Indicates that Finale 26.3 (as uside for the OP's musicxml) seem to handle this differently?

Yes probably but I don't have Finale 26.3 to do a test
In reply to Yes probably but I don't… by Papibois
Yes, you need 26.3.1. Anyway, deleting the credit node altogether fixes the file problem (for now). Clearly, this is not a long term solution but works as a workaround for me now.
It is indeed the issue with interpreting the credit node. Saving the file (in Finale) as a musicxml and deleting the credit node manually is a reliable and 100% repeatable workaround.
Thank you!
