how did you do it?

For stickings you can now use Add->Text->Sticking from the menu and add a shortcut in preferences for it if you want. This didn't exist in 2018.

I just installed the most recent version of Musescore and I do not have the sticking option where you indicate.

That does not appear to be the current version of MuseScore, it's missing a few other things too. Either that or you are in a custom workspace created with an older version of MuseScore, and switching to the standard Basic or Advanced workspace would fix it.

I literally just installed the most recent version before I posted my previous comment. I also noticed what the MDL info page says there should be a bunch more drumline templates than what I have. I'm not sure what's happening. Would the "MuseScore General HQ" resource have anything to do with it? I can't seem to get it to install.

MDL comes with a workspace thet reduces the available menu entries, see #292131: MDL workspace missing menu items. Switch to Basic or Advanced to see the sticking option

There are indeed some issues with installing extensions, not sure the status. But probably you have an older version of MDL installed too, and that's what I meant about custom workspaces. So assuming by most recent version you really do mean 3.6, not some older version that happens to be the most recent offered by some third party (this can happens for Linux, also the Windows Store), change to the Basic or Advanced workspace as I said. Unfortunately, MDL probably changed how you do that also, so I'm not sure where to look, but normally it's far right of the toolbar, or in the View / Workspaces menu.

There is no newer MDL version that dies not have this issue. A new versions to be in the works has been annouced since more than a year now IIRC. Vaporware if you ask me...

But, surely sticking is present in current MDL? I know other menu items were left out but that one was added specifically for the MDL folks.

No, it is not. Strange, but true. MDL is older than Sticking, so that new option is not part of MDL

You guys kinda lost me. LoL. So, should I be seeing the sticking option or not? I'll have to look into the Basic and Advanced comment that one of you made. The Resource screen I posted the picture of says I have the most recent version of MDL.

There is no more recent version of MDL, and it does surpress the Sticking option in its workspace, so use the Advanced (or Basic) workspace
In reply to You guys kinda lost me. LoL… by sday88
Yes, you should be see the sticking option, unless you are using MDL, which for reasons no one understands, has crippled its menus. So switch to the standard workspaces and you will be well. If you need to use other MDL features, switch back when needed.

Ok, I see now. Yes, I was in the MDL workspace.
I guess I should learn to really use this properly. LoL. So, what's the difference between the MDL workspace and the Advanced workspace (for example)?

Which palettes you see by default, which toolbars you see and which menu entries.

Ok, so it's just basically the visual aspect of what I'm seeing and commands/tools that I have access to. Right? It doesn't affect functions of different things, does it? For example, a tremolo is going to sound like a diddle whether I'm in the MDL or Advanced workspace, right? Same with grace notes. I'm still going to hear the same flam sound.
How can I add the sticking text choice to the text palette? I've been googling for the answer but haven't found it yet.

Correct. The workspace defines which palettes, toolbars, and menu items you see, also application font settings (MDL as I recall makes it larger for some equally unknown reasons). But it in no way affects the actual appearance or playback of any score.
I'm new to MuseScore4 and cannot find an easy way to add sticking, using Command T and entering sticking then tab to next note. Used Finale for years and added sticking with Lyric .

See this reply further up this thread https://musescore.org/en/node/273459#comment-1046224 - Hint - it is always useful to read the whole thread before diving in ;^)
For further information see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/drum-notation#sticking - Another hint - the handbook is always a good starting place to find out how to do things, especially if you are new to Musescore.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't see the option in the menu, see screenshot (in French). I took this screenshot by selecting a drum note and searching in « Ajouter > Texte ».
The French manual says that Sticking is written as « Doigté de batterie ». https://musescore.org/fr/handbook/4/autres-notations-des-percussions
FYI « Doigté » is “Fingering”. And it is there…

Based on the screenshot, it appears this is translated as "Collage". Perhaps a different person translated the software vs the Handbook?

But "Collage" is "Paste", isn't it !?!?
And the current MuseScore translation has "&Doigtés" for "&Fingering"
And "Doigtés de batterie" for "Stic&king" (the & denoting the accelerator key)

Do you mean you checked on an english version of the software and “Sticking” is at the same position than « Collage »?
In reply to Do you mean you checked on… by thomaspietrza
Yes. Only that is isn't really "Collage", at least not anymore in 4.1 and its current translations
And not anymore in 4.0.2 after you update your translations (Edition > Preferences > General >Verfier les misses an jour de language

Thanks, the problem is solved after updating the language!
