How can I extend the crescendos/diminuendos/pedals to be applied to several measures?
Must I go pro to realize that?
The crescendos/diminuendos/pedals can be extended in appearance by editing the elements, but I'm afraid they aren't really extended: the red dotted line still points at the end of the very measures I put them into; when I play the score, it still sounds like the marks are only applied to the very measures I put them into; when I split the score into parts, the marks aren't extended.
How can I extend them? I'm very eager for a reply. Thank you so much!

No need at all to go pro, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/hairpins#adjust-length

Thank you!
To summarize the link: using shift + arrow changes where the volta or any other line is applied. Any other change is visual only.

Yeah, I learnt that. Thanks!
The article referenced above shows you to change the length after the fact. But for the record, much easier to just enter the correct length in the first place. Instead of dragging the hairpin to the score, select the exact range of notes/measures you want it to apply to, then double-click the icon in the palette or use the shortcuts (less than and greater than signs).
