Chord identifier
I want to use Chord Identifier. The documentation tells me to go to Plugins>Plugin Manager to open it, but it's not on the list. I dug around further and downloaded it, but for the life of me I cannot get it to appear in the Plugin Manager. Please help!

Enabling a plugin in Plugin Manager is only the 2nd or 3rd step, 1st is to download, 2nd to 'install' it (unpack or rename if needed, then place in the correct directory).

How do I find the correct directory? I'm on a Mac; I thought I followed the instructions, but the plugin doesn't show up in the manager. I'm obviously missing something.

Read that handbook page:
New plugins should not be installed in the above folders, and neither should the folders be modified. Instead add new plugins to
~/Documents/MuseScore3/Plugins
; alternatively, specify a different folder to look for plugins in MuseScore's Preferences. In reply to How do I find the correct… by davidjayhull
If the downloaded plugin file's suffix is zip, then:
Make sure you extract the files from within the ".zip" file.
Plugin files usually end with a ".qml" suffix.

So I got it downloaded, and it's showing up in the Plugins Manager. How do you run the plugin? I can't seem to find a way to get it to do anything. I'm not finding instructions for how to actually run it.

Select it from the plugins menu. If you have a selection, it is only run on the selection. If you don't have a selection the entire score is analyzed.

No, you check it in the plugins manager. It then appears in the plugins menu. Select it like any other menu item and it does it's thing.

Yes, it IS checked in the plugins manager. I don't see a plugins menu. Where did they hide that?

Inside the Plugins menu is Plugins Manager and Plugins Creator. Inside Plugins Manager I click Chord Identifier. Then what? Nothing happens.

The plugin manager is how you enable plugins, not how you run them. So, n the plugin manager, you check the box to enable the plugin, then press OK. Now that the plugin is enabled (you only need to do that once), go back to the plugins menu and you'll see the plugin there ready to be run. Probably you'd need to select some range in your score first.

The Plugins menu is the same menu you used to get to the Plugin manager. When you check Chord Identifier, it is added to this menu.

MuseScore 3 is not enough information (early 3.0.x version didn't allow for plugins), what version exactly?

I don't see this:
MuseScore {

description: "Identify chords and put chord symbol on top."
version: "2.3.0"

On the left after I click Chord Identifier in that menu and expand the pallet that comes up, I click OK. Nothing happens.

That is the code of that plugin, open in Plugin-Editor to see that.
It indeed doesn't seem to do anything on your score.
See https://musescore.org/en/project/chord-identifier-musescore-23 for a more detailed descrption what it is supposed to do

Okay, that was a little snarky, and I apologize. I'm new to this. Some of your answers (like the code you posted) only served to further confuse me and the issues I'm having.
If there's someone around who does use chord identifier, I'd appreciate any help in getting it to work.

The authors should, https://musescore.org/en/user/1819112 and https://musescore.org/en/user/1794009, the latter just did the port to 3.0 though

The special-v3 version freezes with @davidjayhull's score, but doesn't freeze with mine.
The other chordidentifier plugin seems to freeze with both files.

I've checked it with a former version of the plugin and there it hangs. Just installed the actual version of the chord identifier (spezialiced version3_2) plugin and it works as expected.

Well, I know how to install plugins and how they work in general
