Move Selected Text Objects as Group?

When I shift-drag-select a group of text objects, is it possible to move them as a group?
Thanks.

No. There is very limited capability to copy/cut and paste multiple text items except for lyrics and chords.

You can select all of the same type of text objects and move them by changing the offsets in the inspector (F8).

The inspector doesn't have position info. It has color, visibility toggle, and autoplace toggle.
If after selecting, I click on one object (with the intention to move the group), the others become deselected.

Right, that's why I said "any group of similar elements. But I should have been more specific, I meant similar in that specific way.

But also, depending on what the actual goal is here, it's possible that moving the elements manually isn't the best answer anyhow, but instead changing the default position via the style settings. If you post your actual score and describe what you are trying to accomplish, we can advise better.

I am writing an fiddle version of A Classical Gas. While I'm writing, find that I need to adjust the text objects. For example when I started adding bowing marks, I needed to move the Chords and String Numbers (Roman Numerals) up - hence my post about moving a selected group. Looking at the 3rd measure, I now have up to 4 text fields above the staff. Is there a convenient method for moving all the text boxes when I add a new element? Also, it would be nice to be able to align them where appropriate (e.g. all the chords at the same height).
Thanks.

On the assumption that you plan to add bow markings on more than just tha one syste,, then you're going to have the same issue with chord height throughout the score. So, as I said, the solution is to just change the default to be higher. Move one as high as you need it, then hit the "Set as style" ("S" icon) button in the Inspector. This will make all chord symbols default to that same height. And other text you add on at that location will be aligned as well, because they'll automatically appear above the chords. No manual adjustment should be required in that case.

If you really intend only to have bowings on the first system, then select just the chord symbols on that system (eg, right-click one, Select / More / Same system) and use the Inspector to move them together, which will also ensure they remain aligned, and any text elements above them will also be aligned.

It looks like you entered those string number indications as Fingering elements, which is fine if you want them below chord symbols where fingerings would normally go, but since you apparently want them above, then better to use Staff Text so this happens automatically.

So again, to summarize, the trick is to set defaults and use element types appropriately so everything comes out in the right place autoamtically, and minimize the need for manual adjustments. And when you do need to use anual adjustment, to select all the similar elements you want aligned and use the Inspector for this. this ends up being much simpler than having to manually move things around all the time and eyeball the alignment.

Thanks a lot.
I hadn't understood how to use the style buttons, but I do a lot of document layout and Web development, so I appreciate this functionality.

One issue for fiddle notation: sometimes there is a mark for fingering, bowing, chord and string number above a single note. What would be useful in this situation would be the capability to set the y offset and scale of the bowing symbols using a style.

I've tried many music notation programs over the years and none hold a candle yours.

Thanks again.

You can add a bow symbol to a text item using the special characters palette (press F2 while entering text). You can then define a user-defined text type that has the appropriate offset to assure it appears in the proper place above your note. Finally, save this text to a palette and apply this text whenever you want to use that symbol. If you have troubles, attach a picture of how you want it to look, even a score with everything manually placed would work, and someone can help you.

Actually, you don't even need text for this. Add a bow symbol to your score normally, change the offset however you like, then add it back to a custom palette (as simple as Ctrl+Shift+drag back to the articulations palette itself if you like, in the imminent 3.3 release). The same offset will be automatically applied when adding that element to scores in the future.
