Repeated crashing on start up

Musescore 3 has started simply shutting down as soon as I start it up. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but I still get the message "The last session closed unexpectedly, do you want to restore?" Whether I click yes or no the same thing happens. Sending a report simply generates another error message. I have loads of files on this and I'm really desperate to get them back. Please can you help?

What Operating system?
Does it start when double clicking a score?

That messages tells nothing but that a crash happend with a score being open.
The reason for the crash could be a million different things

It may be the start centre, but as I can't get the programme to stay open long enough to disable this function, I'm no further forward. And the same thing happens if I try to open it from a recently made score :(

If it’s the start center that’s the problem, then you can work around it by double clicking a score in your file browser. If that still crashes, it’s it the start center, but it could be the graphics driver, so try following the suggestion I gave regarding QT_OPENGL

Definitely can't open from a score so I'll give your other comment a try. Looks heavily techie but my dad might be able to help! Thanks. Will report back.

You're a genius! It worked - very happy and relieved. Thanks so much for your advice.

What if you are brand new to the program and do not have any scores yet, but the program freezes immediately just like OP does.

Go to musescore.com, create an account (which has already been done if you are posting here) and download a PD (public domain) score, you'll understand what PD is when you see it on a score. If it doesn't start MuseScore automatically, which it usually does on windows, you can double click it in the file manager to start MuseScore.

Or use the -w commandline option
