Tie over measure duration in note entry gives bad layouted tie
Please see attached. XP r1.o
1. New score
2. Notate a bar of 1/8's (for example).
3. In edit mode, select last eighth, select "numeral 8" for duration and tie.
4. Expected result - tie applied and visually correct.
5. Actual result - see attachment.
This is one reason I use reload a lot.

I can't make this happen in 1.1 (custom compile R4618)
XavierJazz, are you still able to reproduce on 1.1 or the trunk? I can't.
If it's still a problem, I think there should be a general fix (via redraw, like normal?). I've changed the title, but can you think of a better one? Just because it likely affects other specific things I'm not familiar with.
Using MuseScore 1.1 (unable to test trunk) - Mac 10.6.8.
XPPro r4611
Still a problem.
See attachment
Much better title. :-)
Could you rephrase the steps precisely?
Is 'Edit Mode' actually 'Note Entry' mode?
Yes.
Okay, could you please re-do the instructions again with more precision, or maybe do a screencast?
I still can't duplicate (1.1 R4708). I've tried 3/4, 4/4, all variations on note entry/modification. I get perfect ties between all notes. This is a bug that needs _exact_ instructions to follow.
XP Pro r.4611
1. New score using "Voice" as the instrument.
2. Notate a bar of 1/8's (for example). You will then be in note entry mode.
3. Still in note entry mode, and on the last eighth, select "numeral 8" for duration and "shift +" for tie.
4. Expected result - tie applied and visually correct.
5. Actual result - see attachments.
I also tried this, in the same score, using the "tie" button in the task bar. Same result.
However, as soon as I wrote the new note for the 2nd try, the glitch in the first series disappeared and the tie appeared as normal.
I hope this is clear enough.
OK, it was step 3 that wasn't clear and now I can make things fail.
The present trunk version does something even more interesting visually as will attempt to tie like above. The note goes underneath the note you are tying from. MS then eventually crashes.
Yes. MS just crashed.
I could reproduce too, thanks. It didn't crash for me though, unless you have to wait a certain amount of time (autosave)?
I think it's an issue in its own right (reload does correct it, but it shouldn't happen at all): #12476: [Trunk] Tie created under note if clicked in note entry (ignored 1.1 as it has different results and soon, won't be used)
Hopefully, it addresses the problem adequately.
Xavierjazz, what other things require you to reload?
I wouldn't ignore 1.1 as 2.0 will be cooking for many, many months yet before it's out. We will see 1.2 before then so it should at least get noted as an issue and hopefully fixed.

Thanks to all the people involved in this bug report! It was easy to reproduce and fix.
