Windows 10, latest master code. Steps to reproduce:
- compile or download latest nightly build
- open MuseScore
- create a new score with one treble clef staff
- try to delete a measure with
- NOTHING HAPPENS.

I have confirmed that my control and delete keys are both working properly on their own, even within MuseScore (Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V for copy/paste work, and the delete key on its own deletes stuff).

This would not be so bad if there was another way to delete measures via the menus, but I don't see one. Regardless, the docs say this is the way to do it, and it's not working.

Comments

The "Delete selected measure" function was recently combined with a brand new way to delete selected beats out of a measure. The same shortcut should still work for both, though—try resetting all shortcuts to default in System Preferences.

I reset the shortcuts to no avail. Have you tried to reproduce this? Unless I am the only one affected, this should be critical.

And I don't see a way to add Delete Measure to the shortcuts. It does not exist already in the list of things for which I can define a shortcut.

It's working perfectly for me with official nightly build f6ce46e on El Capitan. Either way, the "critical" status is reserved for bugs that either cause crashes or corrupt score files.

Search the shortcuts list for "Timewise delete." (Clunky name, I know.)

The manual is for the current 2.0 and surely needs to get amended for 3.0 when this it released or close to release, but we're not there yet

My main point about the manual is that it describes the only way to delete measures as using the keyboard shortcut.

Why did this issue occur for me? Is there a default shortcuts file? Why didn't resetting to the default shortcuts fix my problem? If I reset now it does not remove the new setting I made. I get the feeling that the Reset Shortcuts to Default button does not do anything at all.

OK here's a new twist: I cleared the Timewise Delete setting I had made (select Timewise Delete in the list, press the Clear button). Then I again pressed the Reset Shortcuts button, and now I have two keyboard shortcuts for that option! ctrl+del and ctrl+bkspc. So I have to clear each option if I want to get the default value?

You can close this issue, but there is still something not right with MuseScore here.

Some new features had been documented in the appendix of the 1.x manual and then moved into the 2.0 manual, which started in October 2014

Reset to factory might have been needed to get rid of the old shortcut and get the new shortcut to the default

Reverting to factory settings should fix the problem. Also any new install should be ok. So there is no bug here.

We are probably years away of a stable MuseScore 3 release. So there is no emergency documenting things that might still change quite a lot and it's definitely a bad idea to add reference to MuseScore 3 in the current MuseScore 2 handbook.

But the Reset Shortcuts button did nothing until I entered a shortcut value, then cleared it. And then it only reset this one value.
And if you don't know that the keyboard shortcuts is the place to fix this, you're really screwed. Not being able to delete measures is a severe handicap. What's the workaround? Create a new score, add exactly the right number of measures, then copy/past everything? Ouch!

Maybe I should simply do more testing on the Reset button and post an issue about that...

Maybe you should put a delete measures option in the menus...
