Problem with typing whole notes
Hi, I've got a problem. If I want to type a whole note, it changes into a half note with two dots. What am I doing wrong? Help please :(

Can you share the score that gives that problem? And give is your OS, version of MuseScore and excat steps what you are doing, what you expect and what you get instead?
Your score is probably in 7/8 time. :\

Then a whole note would change into a half note with 2 dots, tied to an 8th note in the next measure.

Could also be that the score is in 4/4 but your cursor is not at the beginning of the measure, so the whole note won't fit starting at that point.
In order to do more than guess, indeed, we'd need you to attach the score you are having problems with - and give precise steps to reproduce the problem.
Well, I solved it on my own but I have another question. I have no idea how to put those marked notes - when I type the half notes, the eight note disappears
