Playback distortion problem
I can hear the distortion when I play my song in Musescore, especially where there are bass drums and fortes. The distortion doesn't go away after exporting as WAV and uploading to soundcloud. I am not sure about how I should call them but they are some grainy clicks, resembling the pops made by a fireplace. It is very annoying as I was planning to record the vocals and publish my song, then my friend told me this problem. The distortion exists unless I pull the volume down to around 30% in the play panel. Any technical reasons about why it happens and are there any solutions? I didn't have this problem until a week ago... Thank you very much and please excuse my bad English.

I believe these 30% are the default, and as you just experienced, for good reasons and pretty much unavoidable at higher settings and stronger dynamics.
Well I shouldn't have said 30%. You know the 100% spot on the speed bar next to it? I need to pull down the volume bar to 50% of the speed bar's height in order to have no distortion. When I first used Musescore, I could pull the volume higher than the speed bar and have no distortion whatsoever
:( But thank you very much
You mean https://musescore.org/en/handbook/synthesizer, don't you? Me too, just don't go beyond 30 there or you'll see the meter go well into the red range, and there clippings distortion is to be expected.
BTW, there's nothing major about this issue...
To clarify: the Synthesizer window is the main volume control for MuseScore, and it does not have a "speed" control. You are presumably using the temporary override control in the Pkay Panel window when you speak of setting it to 30%.
So apparently your main volume in the Synthesizer is too high and that is why you are getting clipping or other distortion unless you temporarily turn the volume down in the Play Panel. Solution is simple: lower the main volume in the Synthesizer window back to what it is supposed to be. Easiest way is Help / Revert to Factory Settings.
If you continue to have difficulties with finding good settings or anything else about using MuseScore, please ask for help in the Support forum rather that using the Issue tracker.
