Many pop-up windows display text to be entered but do not select it when displayed. This means I need to use my mouse and/or cursor keys to select the text I want to edit.

A good example is the Edit -> Measures -> Insert Measures… function. When activated, the dialog displays with a field to indicate how many measures are to be added. The field is pre-populated with "1" and the cursor is *before* the numeral 1.

SUGGESTION #1 (Preferred)
Select the text in the field allowing the user to start typing to replace the default value and/or paste in something from the pasteboard.

SUGGESTION #2 (Okay)
Position the cursor *after* the default text (as if I had typed it) allowing me to use the backspace key to delete it, or continue typing (e.g., to create "12" measures by typing the number 2)
