How to add a tuplet for a duration of beats that don't exist as a single note value?

I understand how to add a tuplet in that you first have to select a single note duration and then enter the number for the tuplet. But what if I wanted to add a tuplet to a note duration that is not notable with a single note such as something lasting 5 beats long? I would need to select two note values such as a half note + eighth note to equal 5 eighth notes total. Thanks for any help.

The total time for any single tuplet group's value, must correspond to the main beat unit, or to the folds or divisions that can be multiplied by two.

example, for 4/4: tuplets can be created on the following note values: = 1x (quarter note), 2x (half note), 4x (whole note) or 1/8 (eighth note), 1/16 (16th note), 1/32 (32nd note) ... and so on.

One way is to split, and then recombine, the measure. Here's an example of a triplet played over 5 beats:

There are other posts in these forums showing different configurations.
If you need specific help, please post an example showing a time signature and explaining what kind of tuplet over what duration you require.

Regards.

Another option is to create a measure temporarily, probably using a custom time signature, of the length of the tuplet, turn it into a tuplet, copy it where you want, then delete the temporary measure.
