Many aspects of MuseScore allow for choosing ones internationalization; translations / Chord Symbols. This is currently lacking for note names and pitch.

Please add a preference setting allowing the user to switch between common nomenclature systems:
* Scientific notation (currently used by MuseScore, default setting "middle C = C4")
* Solfa notation (use 'Do, re, mi' instead of C, D, E)
* Helmholtz notation
ability to set an octave offset, which will allow users to define their middle C as C3 or C4 (or for that matter to my anything from -2 to +2 offset is game)

This preference should be taken into account on all places where pitch is displayed to (or interacted with by) the user. From the top of my head, this means at least:
* Status bar
* Edit String Data dialog

Comments

The notenames in string data are already translatable, as are those for instruments range. Not sure though whether the octave is `translatable' too.
The notesnames in the status bar are indeed not translatable.

While notenames are translatable meanwhile (and since long), we still use the scientific octave notation, no option to use Helmholtz octave notation instead.
And support those for

  • Status bar
