In MS2 the instrument name and short name in front of a staff could be selected and deleted.
In MS3 the staff properties must be opened to remove the instrument name and/or short name

I agree, it needs to be fixed.

I think I recall that it's by design, but I also think that it will almost certainly be experienced as a regression by the users of the 3.0.
