The inspector is no longer docked when the program is opened.
This has some interesting side-effects: for example, the score doesn't automatically move on in playback sometimes, because a certain measure will be hidden behind it but will correctly not register as being hidden.

Workaround is to dock the inspector every time you open MuseScore.

Almost certainly not caused by that commit, as it doesn't happen for me, not before nor after, up to the latest builds from master, inspector is docked here.

Using Ubuntu 18.04, with i3 window manager.

So you mean that you don't encounter this issue with the latest master?
Yes, I don't. But I'm on Windows, maybe that makes a difference?
Doesn't happen for me, either. Did you perhaps create a custom workspace, and ask to have the GUI Components saved as part of that workspace? If so, then I think this is as expected - the workspace is remembering the state the Inspector was in when you saved the workspace.
