MS 3 consuming 100% cpu (core) when idle after PRE activity (keeps Mac awake, too)
Activity Monitor (Mac; Mojave) shows MS3 (2b25396) consuming 100.2 % of a CPU when idle; MS2, also open and idle, is consuming 7.3%. This shall not do; macs are expensive.

They may be expensive (too expensive if you ask me), but being 100 busy is what you buy any computer for, buying a computer that is 100 idle is pretty pointless, isn't it? You don't höre employees just to let them do nothing, do you?
Just kidding of course...

Wouldn't mind 100% if it were playing music with 0 stuttering, but not idle ...

I knew there was a flaw in my reasoning... ;-)
I'm curious if this is related to the PRE. I just opened it on my Windows 10 system and CPU jumped from near 0 to around 30%. It stayed there after I closed the PRE. It stayed there for a good 10 minutes before I close MuseScore and reopened it to a CPU usage near 0 again. I seem to remember a problem with this before 2.3.2 was released and it was fixed. IDK, perhaps it wasn't fixed in the master at that time.
Edit: I found the issue #265183: Changing note pitch via Piano Roll editor causes mscore to eat %100 of a cpu. I was merged with master, but the issue is a little different. My CPU usage actually didn't spike until I change the On time, which was the only edit I made.

I had closed MS3. I reopened it -- reasonable CPU consumption. Opened the PRE -- still reasonable. Changed one length from 950 to 951 - BANG -- pinned over 100%. That's probably what's keeping the Mac awake too. Closing the PRE doesn't stop the consumption.

I hope this will be fixed before Official 3 ---

I have verified that when MS3 is open but the PRE has not, it does not inhibit Mac sleep.

You mean #279721: Piano Roll Editor maxes out CPU and doesn't stop. Type [#279721] to get the link for the issue tracker to work.
