Look each expanded section, there are triple question marks (???) at the end of them. I believe that this is an error to display the right character.
Comments
No, they are to show more, bring up the corresponding master palette
I always thought they were supposed to show an icon and/or text “show more…” or so, and the
???
were just a UI bug, or that the “show more” functionality was known to not work (it did not work in at least one place for me, but I can’t recreate that) and therefore disabled.Something more-saying would be welcome.
As said, this is not a bug, but really by design, check mscore/palette.cpp, line 1095. Furthermore
git blame
reveals that it is that way since at least September 2013 ...Changing it to an ellipsis might be an option though
All I’m saying is it could be better (easier to figure out what is meant).
Maybe “More…” or some kind of icon.
we're using ellipsis on thoer places when there is more to come. And it won't need translation

Yes, but never ellipsis alone (which would look more like “if I double-click this, it will add three dots to the score/note”).
I would prefer a light gray "more..." if you want an ellipsis because there is a symbol that looks like an ellipsis and some people might have it in their palettes.

I think light gray ellipsis could be fine.

At least a different colour could be used. The style of ellipsis could be bolder.
light gray oversized ellipsis would work IMHO.
Ellipsis and a toolTip "Show More"
Hm, maybe some colour, so it doesn’t get mistaken for a symbol?
see https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/5138
Strange, only for the Tempo palette it opens the corresponding master palette, for all others it opens whatever master palette had been opend last. This it a real bug IMHO
3.1 works properly so it's (probably) something you did in your PR.
Certainly not my PR, look at the code, there is no waytmy change could have that effect. And indeed 3.1 behaves the same.
Switch to Basic and try the ??? in Tempo palette first -> works. Now try Clef, Kkeysig, Time sig, Ac citentals, Lines ... -> shows Tempo
Is this a self build issue you are seeing? I'm not seeing this in the release version.
This issue is a duplicate of #290445: Better icon for 'Show more symbols'.
No, happens in the official 3.1
Another option would be the vertical ellipsis, "⋮"
