I updated to the latest release, and now the software does not want to open in Windows 10. The program crashes and will not fully initiate. I am attempting to reinstall the software by downloading from the site.

Try opening it by double clicking an existing score. If it does, then open edit->Preferences and remove the check from "Show start center"
