Also, you might find it useful to disable autoplace for the image, especially if manually poisitioning it, to avoid unwanted side effects on layout.

Yes, disablling AP will retain score format confrimed.
"i" to show hidden instruments will mess up layout regardless AP=1or0.
And, image will not save found on reopen looks if it's linked to a bar.

Not sure what hidden instruments have to do with it, feel free to start a new thread. What should be the case is that visible instruments affect layout (whether the notes themselves are visible or not), invisible instruments do not. So, two different ways of having non-visible content depending on the layout goal.
