This may also apply in 'Text…', when I was trying to centre an instrument name.
According to Marc Sabatella, it is apparently due to the removal of relX and relY.
Using MuseScore 2.0 Nightly Build (1c07b89) - Mac 10.7.5.
Marc informed me that this is possible in 2.0 be creating a horizontal frame from within the vertical frame, adding text, re-sizing, and changing the alignment.
I wonder though: Could all Composer and Lyricist text be handled from within a similar frame, but retain their respective styles (as opposed to being in a generic frame)? If so, could existing 1.3 scores be parsed (changed, or whatever) as such when importing into 2.0?

If you mean that a text inserted in a frame can have the "Composer" or "Lyricist" style, it can indeed! Text styles are completely independent from the text usage or meaning: you may assign the "Fingering" style to a Tempo indication, if it suits your needs (but I do not think this applies to auto-generated texts like instrument names).
If you mean that MuseScore should generate some of the texts usually going in a vertical frame already placed inside a nested horizontal frame, ready for custom formatting, I am not sure I would agree: the need for this is rather occasional in my experience and the added complications while managing the complex frame structure so created would affect all the occurrences.
Perhaps, better documenting the existing nesting possibilities, for manual use when needed, would be enough?
I tried changing centre-aligned text in a frame to composer, but it became right-aligned again.
I'm not sure I like this approach - like tempo text , it seems to deviate from the standard MusicXML presents. See BrookeWestSample in the example set .
Composer *is* right aligned.
No idea what you mean about "this approach" here or what it has to do with MusicXML. Please be specific.
In any case, this is by design. Feel free to submit feature requests for new designs.
Sorry for the late reply.
Yes, Composer as a whole is right-aligned, but I meant the text itself within that (the "block" which no longer exists?).

Then you nNeed a block to center to/in, like a frame within a frame, and a text style that does Center:
Thanks Jojo.
The text cannot be found in the MusicXML I exported - how would it handle such text? See #4.
