Staves
I am creating an SSATB choral score that has a solo in the middle. How do I remove the other 4 voices during these measures so that just one voice and the piano show during this section? I know how to make the staves invisible, but I would like the solo and staves to be closer together so more grand staves of music can fit on a page. Basically, how do I change instrumentation within the middle of a score?

Use Hide empty staves in Format->Style... and the staves with no notes will become invisible and the unused space will close automatically. It's generally easier to wait until all of the notes are entered to turn on this option.

Thank you - is this where it is in Musescore 2? I am using a computer too old for Musescore 3.
I can open staff properties and check a box that says "do not hide empty staves," but when it is unchecked, I can still see empty staves.

This was a way. many years ago: https://musescore.org/en/node/24765 but it does not seem to be what you are looking for.

Good question Shoichi. I bet it will run the 32 bit version of 3.x.

There is no 32-bit MuseScore for macOS (as it now turns out the OP is using)

I think it was under the Style->General menu.

I am using Musescore 2.0.3 on my 2010 Macbook Pro. Because it's so old, I cannot download Musescore 3. Below is a screenshot of my options under Staff Properties. The box is unchecked, but still the staves for the lower 4 parts are there.

Get out of continuous view.
Style → Edit General Style ..., in the tab Score select Hide empty staves.

But you certainly can update to 2.3.2, the last 2.x version, can't you?
What macOS is it? MuseScore 3 installs and runs on anything starting from macOS 10.10, Yosemite, and that in turn does work on a 2007/2009 MacBook Pro, so should on your's.
