Charting a song for a country singer

• Feb 2, 2021 - 23:52

Just a query
Does anyone have an example of how the country and western singers chart their songs for the band
I always thought it was just a Lead Sheet but it seems more than that, or a different variation.

I'm not a USA citizen. I live far away, in Chile. I don't know if there is some standard about this.

But... Music is music. In other words, any "pro" musician can read a 5 lines staff.

So... In that line, I've wrote some country music style songs to so little "bands", like the adjusted sample.

I hope it could be useful.

Hello from New Zealand thank you
I finally remembered who does song charting.
it's Song Charting made simple by Jim Riley USA book. I had bought it years ago and found it.
It's not exactly like the country singers use here as many can't make music sheets or read it.
I'm wondering how to add a box of the tempo of the drum as well. Nice work you sent me sample of.

Totally depends on the singer and the band, but Nashville number notation is very popular in that world (and MuseScore supports it well) either instead of or in addition to chord symbols. But certainly, in more intricate arrangements, you could expect to see additional notation or tablature.
