The intended behavior is that repeated Ctrl+V inserts text one word at a time, making it easy to paste lyrics that were typed in a separate text editor. So this means clearing the clipboard one word at a time as well. But it doesn't seem to be working currently.
Hmm, I had only one syllable in the clipboard, it pasted once, but not after that, so that should be normal then?
Having 2 words in the clipboard and Ctrl-V works twice, with 1st and 2nd word. So that much looks like by design, right?
Well, isn't the first case the same as the second, except starting after the first Ctrl+V? So if pasting one syllable works then clears the clipboard, that is doing exactly what it was intended to do. The rule is: each press of Ctrl+V pastes that word and removes the word from the clipboard. There is no reason there should be a special case once you are down to the last word.
However, for me, paste in lyrics mode wasn't isn't at all some times. I can't figure out what the trigger is, but sometimes Ctrl+V does exactly what it is supposed to, and sometimes it does absolutely nothing (even when verifying the cliboard contains valid text).
I've so far only seen the 'by design' issue , so would rather mark this issue as such and possibly open a new one I about your problem, once it is reproducible?

Confirmed, a repeated Ctrl+V during lyrics entry doesn't work

Fair enough. I'll see if I can figure out the trigger.
