Hello, my name is Colt L. Cardwell. I need to report something with the playback. When you try and play the score that you have written, it starts to lag and sound horrible. Please try and fix.

In using MuseScore, which is a wonderful program to download, I have experienced a glitch (or a bug, whichever term you prefer) with the playback. This had never happened to me using MuseScore 1. I would try to play back what I had written, (sometimes with percussion, sometimes with brass) and it would play. Until it got to the parts with two or more instruments. Then it would start to lag and sound all crackly and sustained.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try to fix :)

Same questions for you - we need more information, since whatever this problem is seems to be unique to just a very few people's systems or perhaps just a very few specific scores. So please post the specific score you are having trouble with and precise step by step instructions to reproduce the problem. Also say what OS you are on and include as many relevant system details as you can, including the settings of your Edit / Preferences / I/O from within MuseScore.

All right.

I've been working on a piece called "Harp and Trumpet".
It's very short, only 16 measures so far.

The bug occurs when I am in the program and I simply press the 'rewind to start position' and 'start or stop playback'.
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
I was working on it late last night and it worked fine.
The previous day, it was glitching.

I'm on Windows 8.0.1
I did not change anything in the I/O tab.

Thank you!!!

We'd still want you to post the specific score, as well as the contents of your I/O settings, whether you changed them or not. Also the soundfont listed in Viuew / Synthesizer. It is next to impossible to fix a problem we can't reproduce, and we will have no chance of reproducing without as complete a picture of what makes your situation unique as we can get.

Also, do be sure to reboot your system and try again at some point - it is possible some process in the background is hogging the CPU.

Okay,
In the I/O:
PortAudio is checkmarked
API: MME
Device: Microsoft Sound Mapper - Output
MIDI Input: None
JACK Audio Server is not checkmarked.

In the synthesizer part, there is one choice (FluidR3Mono_GM.sf3) and I do not have it selected.
The vol is at about 30
and the bar above the button for the metronome is a bit more than halfway up.
(metronome button is off)

If there is anything else, just ask. :)

Did you try rebooting? How often does the problem occur? How much RAM is on your system? What kind of CPU?

You could try a smaller soundfont - see the Handbook, under Soundfont, and try one of the other alternatives?

I did reboot. It is currently working. :/ hopefully it'll stay that way.
The problem occurs just about every other day.

My computer has 4 gig of RAM and an i3-5005U CPU @2.00 GHz.

I will try the other idea if it decides to glitch again :)
Thanks!
