Text properties of measure numbers not saved

When I change the text properties of one or more measure numbers (for example their x/y-position), those changes are not saved. Closing and reopening the saved score results in the loss of my changes.

Saving the score as a PDF shows the changes.

Measure numbers are automatically generated elements an cannot be changed. In the current trunk version it is not possible anymore to select measure numbers.
To change position and style of measure numbers you must change the text style.
For special cases please use a system text element.

I am having this same issue. Right-click on a measure number, choose Text Properties, modify font or position or both (and optionally check box to change all similar elements), click OK. The measure numbers do change (showing that it is possible to select them and change them). But after saving and closing, then later reopening the piece, they are back to the format and spacing before the modification.

This is the same file I'm having trouble with chord symbols with (issue #9702). The chord symbols also lose their modifications after a change in the Text Properties dialog box (but the chord symbols also disappear; the measure numbers don't). I have litte experience with MuseScore so far, so I don't know how general this behavior of not keeping Text Properties modifications is.

I've posted the same file here again, in case it helps.

See Werner's comment above. Measure numbers are generated every time you open your score or change its layout, so changes made using Text Properties don't work. But changes made using Text Style do - after saving, closing, and and re-opening.

And it only just now occurs to me that this is also true of chord symbols. I had always thought that Text Style wouldn't affect existing chords, and indeed, it appears at first that it does, but saving, closing, and re-opening the file does show the changes.

The fact that that changing Text Properties makes chords disappear, or otherwise do bad things, does seem like a bug, though.

Thank you for the effective workaround for my issues with both chords and measure numbers.

To a new user, it looks like there are two ways to modify the text of chord names and measure numbers (and probably other things; I haven't tried to track all similar situations down), by Text Properties and by Text Style. Text Properties appears to work, updating the image on the screen, but doesn't really--the changes are lost when the file is next opened. Text Style doesn't seem to work, because nothing changes on the screen, but it really does--the changes are reflected the next time the file is opened. This is, well, less than obvious.

I guess this former bug report should now branch into two enhancement requests:
1. Remove Text Properties from the right-click menu for text items, or at least gray it out, since it doesn't actually work. Or, better, make it actually work.
2. Make Text Style changes update the currently loaded file right away (like changes under Edit General Style do), so the user knows his/her changes actually did something and can evaluate them without having to save, close, and open the file each time.
