How do you add page numbers to a score?

At least for me, it's not the least bit intuitive.

As mentioned elsewhere, page numbers should already be on by default - you aren't supposed to have to do anything to enable them. So if you have a score where they are not displaying, it must be that they were previously turned off - either by you or by whomever originally created the score or the template you were working from. You will thus need to turn them back on. Since this thread is over five years old, the details have changed, now the header and footer are in Format / Style, not Style / General. but aside from that it's basically the same.

If you continue to have trouble, please attach your score so we can understand and assist better.

Indeed, as mentioned, the page numbers are there. But, you've changed your page settings to make the bottom margin unusually small, and this in turn is pushing the page number unusually low on the page. Also, you're using a very old version of MuseScore, which has different defaults than current versions, and in particular, it puts the page number at the bottom instead of top of the page as current versions do.

Note however that page numbers are normally enabled by default - if you aren;t seeing them in your score, it must be because at some point some customization you or someone else made removed them. If you need help in understand how the page numbers became lost on your score, then please the score and explain where it came from (imported from MusicXML? an earlier version of MuseScore? created from scratch within MsueScore 2 using some third party template?)
