MuseScore crashed instantly after switching the workspace. With "Basic" set, I clicked "Advanced".
Steps to reproduce:
1. In the setup wizard, select "Basic" workspace.
2. Toggle workspace to "Advanced", back to "Basic", back to "Advanced". (Sometimes, MuseScore crashes the first time I selected "Advanced" or even "Basic".)
3. Crash.
OS: OS X El Capitan (10.11), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.0.0.19385, revision: 7694abc

Adding the crash log.
Works as it should, though on Windows 7, but also German
The same with OpenSuse (=no crash). Maybe check if it's also occur after a revert to factory settings.

@kuwitt I'm willing to try "Revert to factory settings". Two issues:
- The option in the "Help" menu (https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings) doesn't seem to exist? (German localisation) Do I need to use the command line?
- Will that delete my settings for MuseScore 2.x?
it is still in the help menu, last entry
it won't do anything to your 2.x settings
I went ahead and reverted to factory settings. It crashed again. Perhaps the crash only occurs on MacOS and with a German localisation.
Thanks, @Jojo.
So it means, it doesn't occur for you with another localization?

@kuwitt I just checked again and it actually does crash with other localisations as well.
Have you tried toggling multiple times in succession?
Yes, I switched between the workspaces several times with a fast frequency. Can't reproduce a crash with OpenSuse.
Same crash with OSX 10.14.1, US.
Also reported in #279069: switch to advanced mode crash.
Of the three people who have reported the issue two are Mac users. We don't know @shadowplumber's operating system, yet.
I was asked to post this as a comment instead of a separate thread. My operating system is macOS Mojave 10.14.1. I have confirmed that the issue does reproduce as follows:
I've gotten the issue to reoccur regardless of whether I click out of the measure being edited. If I just open the program and toggle it, it doesn't crash, no issue, but if I've been editing, then it happens. However, upon opening the program and toggling to advanced without doing anything before and THEN immediately toggling back to basic, I have gotten it to crash once. After trying this again, however, it was not reproducible, even after toggling back and forth a bunch of times.
I am also on Mac OS X mojave and I am having the same crashing issue when switching workspaces. I just tested musescore 2 and it does not have this issue.
Also reported in #279434: 3.0 Attempt to switch workspace crashes.
This remains an issue in the third beta, at least in the version for Mac OS X 10.7 - 10.11.
Fixed after updating to Qt 5.12 in the latest Beta. Still the issue for old MacOS versions.
Fixed for all but macOS 10.10 & 10.11, for that continued in #281472: MuseScore 3 does not run on macOS 10.10 & 10.11
Automatically closed -- issue fixed for 2 weeks with no activity.

I'm confused. How exactly was this issue fixed?
It apparently was a bug in Qt, fixed in the version the builds are using now.

It crashes for me on Windows 10 Pro. Musescore 3.2.3.7635, Qt 5.12.2.
As soon as I try to View the advanced workspace, I get a crash. I created a test workspace. Now, trying to move to either basic or advance - bang! I get a crash.
Please open a new issue for that, it got to be different from this as far as the cause is concerned.
