FWIW, I can't reproduce this,. Are you using non-default scheme or color settings?

No, clean installation.
Interesting! Any other similar effects, such as in any of the palettes, or Master Palette, or the preview used for the tab style customizations in Staff Properties?
Looks fine for me by using the AppImage with OpenSuse, but reminds me of earlier (probably no longer current) issues of Linux Mint and the appearing black start center (see among others: https://musescore.org/en/node/283827).
Similar "blacked out" effect in:
*) "Edit Staff Type", "Preview" field (other dialogue fields are OK).
*) Master Palette (Shift F9): "Time signature", "Note Groups" field (as one could expect! other fields are OK)
Palettes (F9) are all OK.
All other Master Palette pages are OK.
Inspector seems OK (didn't try ALL the possibilities, though).
All (other) dialogues in "View" menu are OK (including, for instance, Navigator preview).
All dialogues in "Format" menu are OK (including Preview in "Page settings")
As mentioned, as far I can see I can't reproduce it with OpenSuse. I come back with my "black start center thought": if I follow this discussion, it's not clear for me, if it's a missing library inside the AppImage or a Linux Mint issue: https://musescore.org/en/node/290224. Maybe it would be also useful to discuss it in a Linux Mint forum.
Note: another suggestion, what happens, if you're using a nightly build?
Same behaviour in Xubuntu 18.04 MuseScore 3.4.1 AppImage.

Which version of Qt?
Edit: oh, AppImage, so brings 5.9 along
In reply to (No subject) by Jojo-Schmitz
Yes, Qt version 5.9.8
I've found that running the menu option "Help>Revert to Factory Settings" solves this issue.
After short research: maybe you could check, if it's an issue of the graphic driver?
This issue came up again in #306832 - Time signature properties are just showing a black box. See that issue for the solution.
