anacrusis is far too far left

The anacrusis is far too left in the attached example. It is very near to the time sign and far away from the bar line.
With the newest version it even seems to be worse (but the impression can deceive).

Well, the score got created (or at least last saved with) with 073fcdc, so no wonder 2.0.3 doesn't render it perfectly, it does give a proper warning too.
Not sure what you don't understand on the nighly donwloads for Linux, "Simply download the .AppImage file, give it execute permission, and then run it!"

Thank you for given the new adress for nightlies - didn't know that there is a new version!
The only problem could be that only for x86 systems these are up to date.

Yes, this is a problem of the new versions (3.0. ..) only, where there will be strong changes in the underlying code of formatting music! But as I want to notate lute music also with bourdons, there is no alternative for me in using the not yet stable versions! But it already is very, very promising - and normally also not too buggy!

the "nighlly linux" link opens the page
https://bintray.com/musescore/nightlies-linux

(please notice that there is no slash at the end of the address)
that's a designed page
you can navigate at
https://bintray.com/musescore/nightlies-linux/MuseScoreNightly-master-x…

where I see no "click here to download"

however clicking the link inserted in my message seen in the navigator I reach
https://dl.bintray.com/musescore/nightlies-linux/
(notice the slash)
with a crude list of appimages link

seems odd, doesn't it ?

... you have to go to the bottom of this page, click on the last link, which is exactly the version I used, then you will have the possibility to download this version.
Probably it is a little bit complicated, but I don't mind, as it works fine!

back to the initial problem
I downloaded the 3.0 and modified your file (see attached)

Zoom in the beginning
and see that blue signs are displayed above each staff of the 2 first measures. A "plus" above the irregular 5 beats measure I inserted, and a "minus" above the shortened anacrusis one.

Can't delete them

These + and - are added as a visual aid to identify irregular measures, they don't get printed and shouldn't (and don't) influence layout. You can disable them in View → Mark irregular measures

Still the problem exists with every new score I make in the current nightly.
1. Make new score with one voice
2. anacrusis 1/8
3. input the notes
-> the anacrusis is too near to the time sign and too far from the bar line.

True.

  1. My First Score
  2. Change first measure's properties to 1/8
  3. optionaly enter an 8th note, but the existing 8th rest shows that gap too

actual result:

Interestingly the image above looks different in MuseScore, the blue dash indicating an irregular measure is further to the left (or the barline further to the right), so the snapshot doesn't catch the real Situation? See this:
ana3.png

expected result (like in 2.0.3):
ana2.png
Even that looks like too big a gap, but it is smaller than in the currently nightlies

Still a problem in the newest nightly build 3843121.
A workaround for me is to add an invisible rest before the anacrusis, what helps a little bit.

With the current nightly f8a5eb8 it seems to be much better.
Still I would like some more place between time sign and anacrusis, but it looks good now again.

Status (old) active fixed

I'll mark this fixed, then. Space between time signature and first note is a separate issue. In principle, it should be controlled by a setting in Format / General Style / Measure, but I'm not sure there is currently a setting for this distance specifically.
