Project
None of the drumset instruments in FluidR3Mono_GM have pan positions, so everything is being played back dead centre. This is a playback issue that can be easily fixed in a soundfont editor (Viena), using the pan positions found in a good virtual instrument drumset as a guide.
Comments
The Soundfont has "Mono" in the name, so no panning.
AFAIK, Drumsets are different in that each (mono) instrument in the set can be individually panned to give an overall stereo image.
With that reasoning we'd need to have different panning for every note on a piano, esp. as a piano is easily twice as wide as a drumset?
If you tick "Drumset" in the mixer it changes to a stereo channel and the pan positions for the percussion instruments of the drumset come into play. Currently no pan positions have been set in the Fluid soundfont, so everything has defaulted to centre.
Attached is a pdf of percussion pan positions, which can be set in the Viena soundfont editor. This will give all the kits a stereo image.
