Score not immediately marked as having an impending save after producing part
1. Create score.
2. 'Parts...'.
3. 'New'.
4. Tick instrument.
5. 'OK'.
Result: No asterisk appears (marking an impending save).
6. Click on page.
Result: Asterisk appears on the main and full score tabs.
Using MuseScore 2.0 Nightly Build (5be9488) - Mac 10.7.5.

I'd like to discuss the asterisk - particularly whether it should appear on the full score tab (different to the 'main' tab), or not.
At the moment, my view is that it should not, because I think you will be prompted about saving changes anyway.
This seems to have been fixed for some time. Tested with a2b136c
As for the asterisk, I think it does belong on the main tab, which is where it does in fact appear. Rationale: you want it on the same level as other open scores, so you can perform a quick visual scan of the main tabs to see which have pending changes. It's not just about what happens when you close the program; it's also about whether you might want to do a save before, say, going to bed or whatever.
