The "Show barline check-box" inside the "staff property" dialog is completely ignored (as weel as it is ignored inside the Tablature staff proprerty dialog).
Barlines are always shown regardles of the flag in the check box.

The code currently manages this property correctly and allow the layout code to access it via showBarlines(); the layout code just never does so. Here's the commit that removed the code that would otherwise have made it work: https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/commit/9bbec943addc7f218c360bcb3…
I don't see any obvious reason it couldn't be reinstated easily enough.
