Project
1: Add a note to the second staff's second stem.
2: Add any note to the second staff's first stem, but make sure it's a seventh above, like E-D, or D-C.
3: Move the first stem to first staff by Ctrl+Shift+Up.
4: Play it. It plays like the trill's bottom note is the second stem's note, and the top note is the first stem's note.
ie. If you put E3 to 2nd stem, and D4 above it to 1st stem, it plays like E3-D4.
I have the sample score.

Comments
I suspect we're looking for an accidental to apply to the trill and getting confused somehow.
