IMV, to open and close Inspector sections, the mouse click should be on the arrow and section header only. By removing the blank space to the right from the target area, the possibility of accidental closure is reduced.
Comments
Someone last week said they couldn't close the inspector by "clicking" the x on his laptop where he touched the screen.
That was in #292114: Window close buttons small / hard to close using touch device
Indeed, I'm not sure I like the idea of deliberately making the interface harder to operate. Worth discussing on the forum to see if there is a consensus that this is desirable.
A better solution might be to make the headers full-width so the user can see exactly where the click area is. E.g.
I like that, also makes it easier to scan visually to find what you're looking for.
@geetar, your image suggests by "make the headers full-width" you mean give them a background colour?
My assumption too. Not sure how to achieve that though (after a brief look at the code). And care needs to be taken for it to work in the light and the dark theme.
@ Robfog. Yes.
All too easy to click on the blank space to the right of a section title, not realising that this is a "live" area and will close/open the section.
