If View > Status Bar is on, the Musescore window will not obey the size decided by the window manager or the user, but resize itself to acomodate for all the text in the status bar.
This should instead be truncated; after all, if a user has decided to set the window to a certain size, that should trump whatever info is displayed in the bar.
(I set the severity to major, both because it's highly annoying, and because I've never experienced an application that behaves like this before)

Thank you so much !!!!!!!!!
My guess is this probably no longer happens in MuseScore 4, so feel to test. If someone can confirm, we can close this issue. I'm not clear on the steps to reproduce the problem, and am guessing it is OS-specific, because I've never seen this behavior on my own systems (WIndows and Linux).

I can no longer get in to happen in the latest nightly, though I also can't get the window as narrow as I can in MU3 where I frequently experienced this issue. An easy way to test it is to change an instrument name to be something ridiculously long, so that the staff name displayed in the status bar would force the window wider. In MU4 it seems to get truncated as would be expected. Tested in Windows 10 with a 1080p monitor set to 125% display scaling.
(Edit: Forgot to mention, in MU3 I was setting my window to be half the width of the screen)
