I thought this was a bug report, because I could find nothing in the documentation regarding this very basic information. I looks like using Edit-Preferences-Score-Default Paper Size has resolved the problem for future files, but it looks like there is no way to change the default paper size for existing files without recreating them from scratch. I can recreate those two files rather than trouble you further.

Have you tried Edit -> Preferences -> Score -> Default paper size ?
It is best to use the forums for support. The issue tracker is more for bug reports (mistakes in the software).

For existing files go to Page -> page settings -> Paper size
