problem with music notation font

Project

Mac OS 10.6.3
Musescore: 0.9.5

None of the music notation is showing up as it should. They're all character error boxes.

I've run Font Book and disabled all of my duplicate fonts... so that's not the problem.

I've installed 0.9.6 RC1, same problem.

Of note: my other music notation software has been doing this since the upgrade to 10.6

What is the font Musescore is looking for, and where is it trying to find it?

I know the graphic design forums have been complaining about font handling in OS 10.6

MuseScore is looking to mscore.ttf and mscore-1.ttf fonts. This fonts are embedded in the musescore binary and are not required in your system.

@Bytowneboy Do you run MuseScore from it's package (mounted) or did you unpackage it and run it from the file system? (I don't own a Mac so my wordings my be wrong)

As far as I know the musescore font is not nested but I can be wrong. For what it worth, I have no problem using MuseScore on mac 10.5 and there has been report of working MuseScore on 10.6. So it might be something special with your mac. Do you have accessibility settings? your mac is not english? You use an addon?

I had no problem using musescore OS 10.5 either ;)

Q: Do you have accessibility settings?
A: To my knowledge, there are no special accessibility settings on my machine.

Q: your mac is not english?
A: The mac's system language is English; input sources (keyboard maps) are Dvorak and U.S.

Q: You use an addon?
A: I'm don't think so; what kind of add-on?
