OK, Ive been using musescore for about 2 years, now all of the sudden I have no instruments. I have re-downloaded musescore AND fluid soundfont 3 times from 3 different sources and I keep getting errors loading the soundfont into musescore. When I open a new file I have NO instruments in the list. I have the input set to read the fluid soundfont file and it seems to "see" it but it wont load it. Not any version off the net anyways. And yes I extracted the soundfont file from a GZ to a TAR file. PLEEEEASE dont make me use Sibelius, The musescore sounds are much better and I like that Musescore lets me save in PDF and WAV. Thank you, Musescore ROCKS!

Make sure MuseScore is looking in the right place for your SoundFont. You don't mention what version of MuseScore you are using but you should be able to find the relevant instructions in the handbook. See SoundFont

In the future, the best place to ask for help is the forums . The issue tracker is used by developers to keep track of fully documented mistakes in the software.

Title soundfont processor speed?
Status (old) closed fixed

So I got a little Asus XP notebook (older and used) so that I could write music on the go. I didn't know it but apparently processor speed is an issue especially with music. I could not not get Musescore 1.0 to play right no matter what. It would play for about 4 seconds and then go gurgly and slow. It took me a couple of months to discover that my processor is too slow. BUT there is a cure. PORTABLE Musescore loaded and plays just fine. I installed it permanently and it opens my work that I save on my Musescore 1.0 desktop at home. I have not had much experience on Portable so I don't know yet how solid it is, but I am happily writing music by the river now..............peace.

bachhell, if you are having a problem with MuseScore the best thing to do is start a new topic in the forums (instead of changing someone else's unrelated topic). For what it is worth, MuseScore 1.0 has been out for less than 2 months (it was released 7 Feb. 2011). Maybe you were using an older version of MuseScore.

Title soundfont update

I am quite aware of which version that I have. but I have an Update.
I have just discovered that it wasn't the Musescore, it is the fluid soundfonts that my little computer can't handle. Apparently the fonts that come with Portable are small enough to play. Are there any good voice sound fonts that use less data than Fluid? Or are there any Gurus that see something I am missing? I can make my own sound fonts if Musescore can read Wav or Mp3 but time is an issue for me.

I didn't try to to change someone else's topic, I wanted to post something about processor speed, the search produced nothing, I posted this on MY account. I dont know why it changed someones topic since there are no directions or "location of post" options. I assumed that someone else who is having trouble with processor speed could benefit from my discovery by typing the word "processor" and finding my post that is on MY account. I am not a Musescore forum engineer, I am Joe public but I can read directions if you had some.
