MIDI - export velocity

Can anyone help with a midi issue please, to which I cannot find a reference in the manual?

I wish to export velocity settings for crescendo and diminuendo markings in Musescore 2, to midi file, but have hitherto been unsuccessful.

I have found that regular midi velocity settings are exported (as in the case of velocity settings made in the Inspector panel, and when made as the result of dynamic markings). However, no velocity changes result from crescendo and diminuendo markings - i.e. they aren't evident in playback within Musescore 2 itself, and they are not included in a midi export.

This may be a limitation of Musescore 2. However, when the Inspector panel is applied to the crescendo/diminuendo marking it shows the option of setting the 'Velocity change' and this must surely be intended as a midi setting. Sadly though, adjusting this setting doesn't have any effect on playback within Musescore 2, and it isn't included in a midi export

Am I doing something wrong? - or is this facility simply not available with Musescore 2, despite the apparent facility offered in the Inspector panel?

Many thanks for any advice.

Comments

This seems like a support question, not a bug report against a plugin. I suggest you repost in the Support forum.

Crescendo markings *do* play back in 2.0, so when you do ask in the Support forum, attach a copy of the score you are having problems with and give precise step by step instructions to reproduce the problem you are seeing. I'm guessing that maybe you aren't creating the crescendo correctly - you might be dragging it to set the length rather than using Shift+right. Or perhaps you simply arne't telling MuseScore what dynamic you want to start and end at.

Thanks for your very prompt reply. Your comments are very helpful. It's reassuring to know that the crescendo markings do play, so I'll try again to get the settings right. I thought that it was likely there was a setting that I was overlooking, despite spending quite some time on it. I apologise for selecting bug report; that wasn't an appropriate category, but there are only two other categories offered and neither of those seem fitting either. Thanks again for your help.
