I realize you can increase the size of these symbols after inserting them. But since they are just text, why not expose the "text style" associated with them so we can change their default size/position as we can with other text elements?

Comments

There is a text style associated with coda & other repeat signs. Style > Edit Text Style > Repeat Text.

Unfortunately changes to it do not seem to have an effect.

I did of course try that, but when I saw it had no effect, I assumed it was something different :-). I see the nightly build has a Repeat Text Left & Right as well, but none of these affect the coda sign. However, they definitely affect the regular text elements in the Repeats palette (the ones written in words, as in "D.S. al Coda"). But actually, I'm fine with the default sizes of those. So I still think there should be a separate style that controls just the symbols. After all, they're not really even coming from the same font as the regular text markings. That's probably why they ignore the Repeat text style.

I personally thing these signs should be editable for size and appearance. They are so tiny. They should be seen over and above any other notation.

You *can* edit these like any other text, and thus make them as big as you want, even in 1.x. The issue here is whether you can set the *default* via a text style. That didn't work for coda or segno back in 2011. But it *does* appear to work in the nightly builds now. So I believe this be closed now?
