Project

1. Create a 4/4 score
2. Add four notes
3. Drag a 3/4 unto the first measure.

The fourth note is then deleted rather than moved to second measure.

This is by design. Trunk adds a facility to optionally rewrite the music (and I still wonder how it works with tuplet).

Have you tried what happens with the attached file. It totally destroys the composition. I can not see how that is intended.

It is. You seem to be expecting MuseScore to not only change the time signature, but to *also* move the notes from one measure to the next to keep all notes and their lengths constant. That's certainly one possible thing one might want to see happen when changing time signatures, but it is by no means the only one. Just as likely would be that you'd want the lengths of the notes to be rescaled to fit in the existing measures. So two halves in 4/4, for example, would turn in two dotted quarters in 3/4. And four quarters would turn in a quadruplet. And in other cases still, what MuseScore currently does is exactly what you'd want. Totally depends on what you are starting from and why you are finding it necessary to change the time signature of music already entered.

So rather than guess what else you might also want done while changing time signature, MuseScore simply does nothing else. If you want the notes reflowed from measure to measure, then you can copy the passage somewhere else, then change the time signature, then copy the notes back, and they will automatically reflow.

As mentioned, the trunk (next major version) looks like it will have a facility to do the reflowing automatically in the cases where that's what you want.
