I just imported an XML file with tom 3 in the notes but instead to tom 3 sound it's a whistle sound. I tried to edit it back to tom 3 but I can't seem to find the tom 3 note.

Please attach the MusicXML file you are having trouble with so we can investigate further. It could be that the file does not contain full specification of the instrument, or contains incorrect information.

In any case, MsueScore allows you to edit the drumset definition for any percussion staff - right click, Edit Drumset. You can then add whatever MIDI pitches you like if they are not present in the definition imported from the MusicXML file.

We need the actual MusicXML file, not just a picture.

Since the workaround is trivial, and only playback is affected, this is not considered a "major" issue in a notation program.

This file appears to contain no drumset information at all. So I'm surprised *any* of the soundnotes on the drum staff are playing as drums for you. Apparently Sibelius has a bug where it fails to include drumset information sometimes. See #57751: Import of MusicXML file with no drum set info should assume reasonable defaults. This might be a duplicate of that. Anyhow, you will need to somehow get drumset information into that MusicXML file if you want correct playback. I think maybe it works if you use Dolet in Sibelius rather than the built in function - or maybe it is the other way around.

This is a Sibelius 7 "direct export" MusicXML file, which does not contain the MIDI instrument assignments or drum set mapping that MuseScore requires.

@YaminoEXE,

unfortunately, you will have to manually fix this.

Marc,

our replies crossed. FYI, Sibelius 7 does not export midi-instrument definitions but virtual-instruments. So far I have not found a trivial way to map those onto MIDI.
