Clicks in playback of some soundfont instruments
2.0.3 / Win 7
When some soundfont instruments are played back in MuseScore there is a click when the key is released—although they sound fine in the Viena soundfont editor.
For example, download Masquerade 55 (a small GM soundfont—under 18 MB).
In MuseScore, there is a click when the key is released in the following sounds:
Clav, Organ 1, Organ 2, Accordion, Nylon-str. Gtr., Distortion Gt., Fingered bass, Slap Bass 1, Slap Bass 2, Synth Bass 2, Soprano sax, English horn, Bassoon, Recorder, Pan flute, Ocarina, Square wave, Detuned Or1, Detuned Or2, Ukelele, Sine wave.
Shouldn't a sample that plays OK in Viena also be playable in MuseScore without clicking?
Comments
This issue only seems to affect instruments which have very short volume envelope release times. Is it possible that MuseScore is shortening the release time even further – even by as little as a few hundredths of a second?
Could you try a master nightly? Do you have the same problem?
It could be fixed with #112556: Tremolo preset in FluidR3Mono has overlong envelope release phase. I will merge it to 2.1 if it works.
As suggested, I tried the same soundfont, Masquerade 55, in the latest master: 3edf804, 30/3/17.
That seems to have fixed it. There is a slight residual click on the release of the Fingered bass and Synth Bass 2, but only in the very lowest notes: E to G. The rest of the instruments sound OK.
Assume fixed.
