1. Why the mixture of 'directory' and 'folder'?
2. Why plural either of the words at all (i.e. 'Styles directory' should be 'Style folder') since you only work with one folder at a time, regardless that the name of the real folder contains the 's'?
3. Maybe SFZ should have a better name, or share the SoundFont folder?
I agree on changing "directory" to "folder" (or "folders" to directories"), and also to dropping the "Files", but I'm not sure whether/why the other plurals should be wrong? There a (potentially) multiple scores, style files, soundfonts, plugins, etc in each of these folders.
Might indeed be a good idea for Soundfonts and SFZ files to share folders, but up to the developers to decide I guess.
Soundfont (*.sf,;*.sf2;*.sf3) are for Fluid, SFZ (*.sfz) for Zerberus, both used in the synthesizer. So both are sort of soundfonts, as far as I understand it?
SFZ are a different type of "soundfont" (that word really implies SF2 format specifically). SF2 files are used by the the Fluid synth, SFZ by the new Zerberus synth. See http://musescore.org/en/node/20818
I have no idea if it's a done deal that Zerberus this is going to make it for 2.0
Jojo, I don't understand why almost every entry on the prefs page in your pull is now singular (Plugin Folder, Template Folder), except SFZ and Soundfont (SFZ Folders)? The mixture of singular and plural still exists and doesn't make sense.
Because for the later two you can have more than one folder, it is a list of folders. All others have only one lolder.
Or to put it differently: there is only one folder for e.g. plugins, but there can be more than one for e.g. soundfonts

I propose a further improvement in name:
'SFZ File folders'>'SFZ folders'
What do others think?
Take it to the next step.

Folder is more up-to-date and shorter so those longer names will still fit in the dialog. Saying 'directory' shows a DOS-ism.
What exactly are SFZ files? Are they soundfonts, or what?

Should not prevent us from having "SFZ & Soundfonts folders"
I would agree it probably makes sense to combine these.
Esp. as it is folders

Not (yet) combining soundfont- and SFZ Folders...

I did wonder about combining, but I have a feeling SF2 and SFZ are deliberately kept separate because of latter's loading time.
Might be wrong.
I see. I've never used it, and only now noticed the "..." to bring up the list. Your pull looks good.
They won't be loeaded until being configured in Synthesizer. And there just shown as being able for load, until being added.

OK, Werner agrees that Soundfont and SFZ folder should get merged:
"mmh, makes sense, having separate preferences looks a bit overengineered"
I'll have a go at it.
