Chord symbols sometimes add (much) too much space to measure
I can't put my finger on exactly what is going on, but two things at least seem to cause MuseScore to add way too much extra space to a measure when chord symbols are present:
- if it's the first measure of a system
- if the next note is (incorrectly) perceived to overlap vertically
I've attached a sample score. Here is how it looks when loaded:
Compare the first two measures. The only difference between the first two measures is that the first measure is the first of the system. There is no reason it should be so much wider. Remove the chord symbol and its width returns to normal. So it's the chord symbol combined with the fact that it is the first measure of the system that causes the problem, it seems (I can reproduce this on other systems).
Now look at measures 3 & 4. Here the only difference is the pitch of the notes. There is no apparent collision of any kind, and yet for some reason there is a ton of extra space before the second note in measure 4.
