OS: Linux Mint 20.1, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2.548021370, revision: 3224f34

Other programs such as LibreOffice have a "Print Pdf" button on the toolbar as default. So, it seems reasonable for MuseScore to provide an "Export" button on the toolbar, or, at least, to enable this as an option for the user.

Workaround:

  • File -> Export... (recommended, since it gives more control on what is exported, parts vs score)
  • Print Score/Part (button on the toolbar) launches the OS print dialog. Most OSes have the ability to export to PDF, but not as much control as to what is exported.

It would be no problem to put a button in the toolbar that opens up the export dialog, just like "File -> Export...". We would need an icon for it, though. I can probably create that, but are there any rules for icons in MU3? (Line width, baseline, etc.)

Let's better do such UI changes in MuseScore 4 only (see below too).
Export does have a menu entry, a mnemonic (Alt+F, Alt+E) and a shortcut (none set by default, but can get set, e.g. to Alt+E), that should be enough for now (and for 3.x)
