1. Open attached score (produced in 1.3).
2. Add 'Change instrument' to the first note in bar 2 of Keyboard.

Result: Each instrument, below or from the keyboard down, will have different sounds.

Notes:

The behaviour is inconsistent, but an entry may adapt the sounds of a neighbouring instrument.
It only seems to affect 1.3 scores.

Using MuseScore 2.0 Nightly Build 80a58a9 - Mac 10.7.5.

When you say it the behavior is "inconsistent", do you mean, you see it in some scores but not others, or with this score, the specific sounds differ when following the same steps? Is it ever *not* reproducible for you when following these exact steps?

My understanding is by adding "Instrument" (via the Text palette) - only this operation -, on the first note (keyboard, second measure), like this:
Instrument.jpg
this causes a "exchange" of sounds between the instruments!

For example, if after this operation, I click on each quarter note of the Drums staff, I hear the piano, and if I click on each quarter note of the electric bass, I hear the drums!
And the whole is a cacophony!

I check if it's related to this issue? #42741: Change Instrument does not affect playback sound until save/reload Maybe, right?!
So, as usual, investigation... :)

EDIT: you can reproduce this?

I can reproduce systematically.

The steps:
1) Open this file: Sounds of other entries shift after applying Instrument change in 1.3 score(1).mscz
2) Select the C (second measure, keyboard) -> double-click on "Instrument" in Text palette
3) Escape
4) Click on differents notes in the score.

Result: they don't correspond to the appropriate sound of the selected instrument (drums -> piano, or electric bass -> drums)

I check...

Won! :-)

I confirm that this specific issue (with the steps as described in the previous comment #4), and with the same file, also occurs with the Nightly on October 11: a7dab0a

and not with this one: fc6fe02

Status (old) active fixed

Excellent! I bumped this specifically because I remembered there had been another bug reported with instrument change and wondered if it was due to the same cause. Since I cannot reproduce any more, I will mark this fixed. Feel free to re-open if you find it otherwise.
