Unable to export MIDI files or XML files

I upgraded to the latest version and now I am not able to save as anything but the pdf files or the musescore file formats. It won't let me save as MIDI or XML or any other formats listed in export or save as settings.

What OS are you on? What goes wrong when you try to export as another file type? Are you giving the file the correct extension for the format you are selecting?

I am using windows Vista. When I try to save it, the format gets changes to pdf and gives me a message there is already a pdf do you want to overwrite it? Yes, I do choose the the right file extension but nothing seem to work.

Not just choosing the right file type - you have to actually *type* the proper extension as part of the filename, I believe. See #47241: [Windows Vista] Export to midi or wav or MP3 only saves as a PDF. Seems to be a quirk of Windows Vista, which is of course no longer supported. Might be connected to that option Microsoft sets (or used to set, anyhow) where extensions were hidden for reaosns that never made any sesne whatsoever.

If you really have exactly the same problem, the cause and the workaround is descibed here and in the other issue linked to. The problem itself can't get fixed, as it is with Windows XP/Vista.
